Basic set up

  • The use of common software for collecting, editing and uploading data recorded bedside is necessary for sharing data between Members. CMA Microdialysis has generously provided the ICUpilot software including the necessary Data Input Modules (DIMs) free of charge.
  • DIMs are software modules necessary for ICUpilot to connect to various bedside instruments. DIMs are available for standard ICU monitors, analyzers for microdialysis samples, tPbO2, capillary flow, BIS, infusion pumps, cooling units, blood analyzers etc.
  • The Basic set up is so simple to that you only need a working knowledge of the Windows computing environment to get started.
  • We recommend clinics to start with this  basic set up consisting of a computer on a trolley running ICUpilot. The trolley is positioned bedside and the various instruments connected by standard serial to USB or network cables. Please, consult the ICU technical staff and/or the hospital IT department for permission to connect the various instruments to the computer.
  • After the patient is discharged data can be analyzed using the unique graphical features of ICUpilot. Anonymous data can be transferred by an ordinary USB memory to another computer connected to the internet, running the ICUpilot software, and then uploaded to multimodalmonitoring.org for discussion with Members all over the world.
  • Once the staff has enough knowledge and interest the basic set up can be connected to the local network of the ICU or hospital allowing multiple beds to be monitored simultaneously and data to be securely stored on a central hospital server. Such a set up will need the involvement of the hospital IT department and possibly also technicians from CMA Microdialysis.
